
My mom has been my greatest teacher in the kitchen. Growing up in Sudan, I watched hercook everyday and tasted some of the most incredible meals. When our family moved to Canada in 2005, we brought our traditions with us, recreating favourites like Foul Sudani, Taameya, and Molokhia. These dishes connected us to home, and from observing my mom to experimenting on my own, I developed a deep love for home-cooked, flavourful meals.
In 2021, everything changed when I met Lyss. We bonded over time spent together in the kitchen. Lyss, unlike me, grew up sticking to the basics, enjoying her beloved traditional Italian dishes but not venturing far beyond. When I introduced her to the rich flavors of Middle Eastern and Sudanese cuisine, everything shifted. She fell in love—not just with me, but with our food, especially the way my mom and I prepare it.
That’s how Mama Maha’s Flavour Dust was born. Lyss had the idea: *If you can’t cook for everyone, how can they experience this amazing food?* And so, we created the perfect solution—a spice trio inspired by my mom’s recipes and my passion for authentic flavour
